American Medical Alert Corporation (NASDAQ: AMAC), a provider of healthcare communication services and advanced home health monitoring technologies, today announced the acquisition of the operating assets of Long Island Message Center, Inc. ("LIMC") by its HCI subsidiary. LIMC is a long standing, privately held telephone answering service (TAS) specializing in the provision of services to medical group practices and clinics. LIMC's service area includes Nassau and Suffolk Counties, thereby extending the customer base and geographic scope of H-LINK(R) OnCall, AMAC's TAS reporting segment.

Howard M. Siegel, Chief Executive Officer speaking on behalf of AMAC, commented, "LIMC is our fourth strategic acquisition designed to increase our market share in the healthcare communications business. AMAC's scalable communications infrastructure will allow LIMC customers to receive a host of value added services while establishing a stronger foothold for AMAC to market to the Long Island customer base. We have begun to migrate LIMC customers onto AMAC's advanced telephony platform and expect to complete such process during the next ninety (90) days to maximize efficiencies within our organization."
